A portable food warmer bought for AUD$39 at BigW. This awesome gadget really does guarantee warm lunch everyday. I have recently moved to an office with packed kitchen at lunch hours. Queuing up for the microwave at lunch time is wasting precious lunch minutes.
I was skeptical when I first saw this on YouTube, worrying the food would not be warm enough. After reading many positive reviews about it, I decided to give a try.
Sunbeam official site claims that you would be enjoying warm lunch in 3.5 hours for frozen food and 2 hours for chilled food.
First day of use, I left my lunch to warm in this pot for 2 and 1/2 hours. Food was very warm, a tad hot too put in the mouth right away. I was pleasantly surprised my food isn't burn but it did become slightly dry.
Second day of use, I kept my lunch in the pot for 2 hours and 15 minutes. The food temperature was nice and warm. My conclusion is not to keep lunch in the pot for more than 3 hours or the food will become overly dry.
I recommend putting one tablespoon of water in the lunch bowl prior to heating to avoid overly dry food.
It comes with a light weight metal bowl, a base and the GoLunch pot.
I keep the base and pot in the office and only need to carry the metal bowl back and forth from home to office.
This is a worthy investment for busy office worker.
The good:
- Price is reasonable
- Portable
- Warm lunch every day. Good bye microwave queue.
- Metal bowl is easy to clean and very light weight.
- Update 2 August 2016. After using this everyday of a year, the unit is still going strong. Very reliable and durable.
The bad:
- None so far
